Gain exclusive early-access to C4 2018 by attending Preview Night! For three hours, the show floor will be open for attendees to get first pick at the vendors, meet their favorite creators, sign up for artist’s commission lists, and much more! Preview night is open to everyone!!! If you’ve never been to C4, here’s your chance to try it out before the crowds roll in on Saturday! ***Not All Guests Will Be In Attendance. Join members of the 501st Legion, Rebel Legion, & Ghostbusters costuming groups as they share their tips and tricks to building authentic, screen-accurate costumes! Pick up last minute ideas and on-the-go quick fixes to make your costume contest-ready for C4 weekend!

Cherry Capital Comic Con kicks off the first after-hours event of the show with an evening full of drinks, merriment, and art! Grab a drink with artists and featured guests from the show at this limited-access event. Sketch out your favorite characters, or check out the work of others! Join us as we pay tribute to our friend and past C4 Guest Steve Dillon. All art created at this event will be up for charity auction at Saturday Night’s After Party! Drink & Draw ticket holders only. Must be 21 years of age or older.

Members of the 501st Legion host an all-ages blaster range game at their booth on the convention floor to help raise awareness of and a generous donation to the Traverse Bay Children’s Advocacy Center. Guaranteed prizes, and only $1 to play- all proceeds benefit Traverse Bay Children’s Advocacy Center.

COMICS STUDIES AT MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY

Learn about the high-caliber comics resources at Michigan State University, such as the annual MSU Comics Forum (comicsforum.msu.edu), the MSU Comic Art and Graphic Novel Podcast (msucomics.libsyn.com), the MSU Special Collections Library (the largest public collection of comic books in the world), scholarship opportunities, and the recently minted Comic Art and Graphic Novel Minor (tinyrurl.com/MSUComicsMinor).  MSU Comics Studio Professor, Ryan Claytor, and MSU PhD Candidate/MSU Comics Forum Panel Coordinator, Zack Kruse, will be on-hand to discuss the many possibilities of studying the comics medium at MSU.

Watch these masters of the craft create art in real time as we throw a few… curveballs… their way. Watch the creative process unfold and experience how each artist uniquely interprets concepts as they come alive on the page!

WRITE OR WRONG: “COMIC KICKSTARTERS”

What are the secrets to succeeding with creator-owned comics on Kickstarter? Join Dirk and fellow successful Kickstarter comic creators Dan Dougherty, K Lynn Smith, and Gene Ha as they reveal the keys to creative and economic success in a series of numbers-based tips, tricks, and techniques that will help aspiring creators navigate the financial and creative landscape of creating comics and releasing them via crowdfunding!

LET’S BUILD A TEAM

Making one great character is challenge enough – but what if you need to create an entire team of characters? Whether building a team of equals or just building a supporting cast for your protagonist, there is an art to fleshing out a complete roster of characters. Join Comfort and Adam with guests Jill Thompson and Angel Medina to learn the basics of team building and design. Then, we will invite the audience to help in creating a small team which will be designed and drawn live.

The moment has finally arrived! After months of nominations, the selection committee has narrowed down FOUR finalists for the second annual Gary Reed Independent Creator of the Year Award. Join us as we announce who the recipient of the 2018 award will be, and who was voted as most honoring the spirit of Gary Reed in independent comics. Will it be Dirk Manning, Victor Dandridge Jr., Dan Dougherty, or Travis McIntire? Find out here!

OFFICIAL C4 AFTER-HOURS ART AUCTION & KARAOKE PARTY – SPONSORED BY RIGHT BRAIN BREWERY

The after-hours festivities commence with the C4 Silent Art Auction from 8pm-10pm- featuring all of the art created at Friday Night’s Steve Dillon Drink & Draw! A portion of the proceeds from the Art Auction will go to support our 2018 charity- THE HERO INITIATIVE- in honor of Steve Dillon. During the Art Auction, grab a drink from the cash bar and gear up for C4 CHERRY-OKE, warming up at the 9pm hour and going steady through the end of the evening! Cool art, a good cause, and a night of raucous antics await as we party comic con style! Open to all convention ticketholders 21 years of age or older.

THE MATTHEW LITCHFIELD KIDS COSTUME CONTEST- SPONSORED BY TACO BELL

Think you have an amazing costume? Show us what you’ve got at this year’s Costume Contest, sponsored by Taco Bell! Celebrity judges will be present to judge your costume and your “costume portrayal” (how convincing you are in your fabulous costume). Every child is encouraged to join, and it’s free! Get your kids signed up at the C4 Merch Booth by 9:45am. The Taco Bell Costume Contest Stage is located in the convention TICKETING & pre-function area.

KIDS PARADE W/ THE 501ST AND REBEL LEGIONS

All kids attending C4 are invited to meet up with the costumers from the 501st and Rebel Legions and take part in a rousing parade fit for an Emperor. Join the Legions as they march throughout the convention floor and into the main lobby of the Grand Traverse Resort- officially opening the convention floor for the day.

Many voices reside inside the head of C4 Media Guest Billy West, and we’re pretty sure you’ve heard quite a few! From Ren & Stimpy, Bugs & Elmer, and even Fry & Zoidberg, Billy has established himself as one of- if not the most– prolific cartoon voice actors of a generation. Join us as Billy shares his adventures in voice acting- who knows, we may even hear from some of his famous creations themselves!
